Every Possibility
Begins with
the Courage to imagine

True love bears all things
Believes all things
"Hopes all things"
Endures all things
Love Never Fails

Shoot for the moon
Even if you miss
you will land among
the Stars

Dream as if you will live forever
Live as if you only have today

Never speak ill of anyone
lest you may bring that ill will back
to your self.
sooner that you can imagine.

Never speak in anger at anyone you love
for your anger may consume you  and spill over into other facets of your life.

When you give your heart  to love remember
give it fully for if it is rejected and broken...
you may need to take time to heal it.,...
Think only of  love
always remember  those things  which made you love deeply in the first place
Never forget them.
for they will be the key to your longevity in love life and happiness and your relationship

life is not a matter of milestones
But of Moments
The raven in indigenous peoples mythology is both the Creator of the world but also considered a trickster god. For instance, in Tlingit culture, there are two different raven characters which can be identified, although they are not always clearly differentiated. One is the creator raven, responsible for bringing the world into being and who is sometimes considered to be the same individual as the Owner of Daylight. The other is the childish Raven, always selfish, sly, conniving, and hungry. Other notable stories tell of the Raven stealing and releasing the sun, and of the Raven tempting the first humans out of a clam shell..
The Story of the Seven Eagles
Shirley Lang’s Spirit name is
Kaug Auk Shee – FESTIVAL OF THE RAVENS
( Creator of Harmony out of Chaos)

She is from the Cree Nation, and is currently the Founder and the Coordinator for the Ska’ls Transformative Justice Program at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre, which she facilitates on a part time basis.  Shirley owns a  successful Aboriginal catering company in Victoria, BC, Kitchens of Distinction Private Catering. She can be reached at 250-858-7777 or Chef@kitchensofdistinctionprivatecatering.com

Born to Cree parents, Shirley was raised with an inherent respect for Aboriginal ways and the power of Earth's abundance. A single mother to Brittony Brooke, Shirley lives a healthy and balanced lifestyle in order to be a positive role model for her daughter and the community at large.

During her 20 years in Toronto before relocating to the West Coast 14 years ago, Shirley was an award-winning hair stylist, salon owner and accomplished business executive, whose field of influence circled a wide network of celebrities, media hosts, entertainment moguls and personalities. She has contributed to the success of recording artists, radio hosts, television stars and prominent actors, at home and abroad. With an uncanny ability for bringing out the best in people — and achieving success in a world measured by commercial strategies and advertising budgets — Shirley's business was built on personal recommendations and one-on-one referrals.

Recognized for her commitment to high standards of excellence and dedicated artistic vision, Shirley acquired the respect and support of the likes of Moses Znaimer (City TV/CHUM), Alan Thicke and recording artists Liona Boyd, Marianne Faithful, Lisa Dalbello, Colin James, and Cory Hart, just to name a few. Shirley formed her own talent agency, Brooke International Talent Inc., (named after her newborn daughter) in 1989 and within six years, had developed a much-in-demand roster of accomplished actors, comedians and personalities, including Robert Ito (Star Trek, Quincy, X-Files)

Shirley has been the focus of major editorial coverage with features from YTV, CBC radio and television and Citytv (Fashion Television, City Line). At the hub of a high-profile circle of stars and celebrities, Shirley continually attracted the attention of young, emerging talent and was ideally positioned to help them further their goals, which she now applies to working with Aboriginal people who are in conflict with the law.

Shirley applies her personal philosophies to the challenges of everyday circumstances and the human condition. As a living role model, her real work lies in her innate, dynamic ability to empower people. She is poised to help identify and apply their untapped gifts and skills, while sparking their imagination, broadening their realm of possibilities, increasing their choices, opening doors and facilitating their advancement.

Shirley is highly regarded by members of the Aboriginal community, judiciary, and justice system as a cultural bridge builder and positive role model. She is guided by her deep spirituality, and relies on the wisdom and direction of her respected Elders and Mentors. Shirley coordinates and develops programs that are established to formulate, initiate, and promote mechanisms, which constructively involve the Aboriginal community in the justice process. She assists Aboriginal offenders, the community and justice/legal system personnel, to work together in order to create healing linkages and access resources that empower the offender to break the destructive cycle of criminal activity and incarceration that profoundly affects our communities.

Since 1996  Ms. Lang has written Cultural background reports for sentencing Aboriginal offenders based on  Section 718(2)(e) of the Criminal Code of Canada, which later evolved into what is now known as the Gladue Reports. In July 1996, as the Bail and Probation Supervisor for The Native CourtWorkers & Counselling Association of BC, in Vancouver, Shirley wrote her first sentencing report for The Honourable Justice Dohm. The Honourable Justice Dohm stated that her report was “probably one of the best I have ever seen. If the court were provided with such reports as this one, sentencing would not be as difficult as it is in many other cases. I can’t remember when I have received such a full and fair report.” Since that time she has been regarded as an Aboriginal Expert in the area of Gladue report writing. She has written Gladue reports for Legal Aid Appeals and numerous legal firms within British Columbia.  In addition, the Government of Canada purchased Shirley's  2 year in-depth research  documents regarding the Gladue Reports , as well she sat on the advisory committee for the  Justice Institute of BC regarding their Gladue report writing training.
